At 9:20 p.m., a Williams Road resident reported finding a suspicious ice cream sundae cup near his chaise lounge chair in front of his house.

Concord: Monday September 13, 1999:
At 7:21 a.m., a Lang Street resident reported an ongoing problem of people throwing food on his car. Two weeks ago someone tossed a Wendy's milkshake on it; this time it was a Boston creme pie. The resident believes they were random acts because his car is parked on the street.


Sudbury: Saturday September 25, 1999:
At 1:56 a.m., an Autumn Street resident reported someone was playing the drums. Police located the fife and drum corps at the colonial fair at the Wayside Inn and advised them to keep it quiet.
At 10:08 p.m., a French Road resident reported the fife and drum participants at the Wayside Inn disturbed him the previous night until about 2 a.m. and they had started again. Police again asked the fife and drum corps to keep the noise level down.

Concord: Tuesday September 21, 1999:
At 10:49 p.m., two residents called police to report a large aircraft had flown low over their houses. The Hanscom Air Force Base tower reported it was Al Gore's plane. The vice president had attended a Weston reception where he raised $250,000 for his presidential campaign. [Now THAT is a troublemaker. Damned vice presidents; when will they ever learn? - Ed.]


Concord: Sunday September 19, 1999:
At 1:35 p.m., a Laws Brook Road resident reported a squirrel was running circles around her tree.

Concord: Monday October 4, 1999:
At 9:04 a.m., a caller reported seeing a fox dancing in the middle of Barretts Mill Road.

Concord: Sunday September 26, 1999:
At 9:58 a.m., a caller reported seeing a blue parakeet in the playground at Emerson Field. Police did not find a parakeet.

Concord: Thursday September 30, 1999:
At 10:29 a.m., a caller reported a skunk was in the parking garage at Emerson Hospital. It eventually went away.

Concord: Saturday April 22, 2000:
At 9:26 a.m., a Nancy Road resident reported that a turkey was pecking at her window. An officer responded and moved the bird along.

Concord: Saturday August 5, 2000:
At 3:20 p.m., Emerson Hospital reported a local man had been bitten on the left thumb by his neighbor's cat. The man had been holding the cat, which bit him when it was stung by a bee. The Board of Health was notified.


Concord: Wednesday September 22, 1999:
At 8:58 p.m., a BankBoston employee reported finding deposit envelopes with the words "kill" and "blood" and "die" written on them in the ATM on Thoreau Street. Police believe it was a prank.

Concord: Monday September 27, 1999:
At 9:18 a.m., a resident reported receiving bills for four magazines and The Boston Globe despite never placing an order for them herself. Police advised her to cancel the subscriptions.

Concord: Tuesday September 28, 1999:
At 8:39 a.m., the library reported receiving a letter in which the anonymous author rambled about the CIA but did not make any threats. Police confiscated the letter.

Concord: Tuesday April 18, 2000:
At 1:19 p.m., a resident reported receiving a suspicious telephone call. An apparent telemarketer asked if the resident could see a black van parked outside the house. When the resident said no, the caller said, "Well, we can see you." Police checked the street but found nothing suspicious.

Concord: Monday July 31, 2000:
At 8:56 p.m., a Bradford Street resident reported that three youths had spray painted "Mr. Ass" on a piece of broken fence near the apartment building's trash container area.


Concord: Sunday October 3, 1999:
At 6:45 p.m., a Prairie Street resident reported someone smeared mud on her house.

Concord: Saturday July 22, 2000:
At 12:42 a.m., police checked on a man sitting in a car with the lights off in a residential area. The man told police he was waiting for his girlfriend's husband to leave her residence before he went to visit her.


Stow: Wednesday October 6, 1999:
A Bradley Lane resident reported a ball of fire flew over his house toward the southeast.

Concord: Tuesday, January 11, 2000:
At 8 p.m., a caller reported that a blue trash barrel full of fish heads was in the river near the Pine Street Bridge. The CPW was notified.


Concord: Friday October 8, 1999:
At 8:08 a.m., a 49-year-old Woburn man was hit by a train as he crossed the tracks at the Concord Depot while walking his dog. The man, who sustained serious leg and facial injuries, was taken to Emerson Hospital, then flown by helicopter to Boston Medical Center. Police said a hearing impairment may have prevented the man from hearing the train's whistle as it approached the platform. The dog, trained to assist deaf people, was not injured. [Am I the only one who finds it to be a rather interesting coincidence that the dog, who was supposed to be helping his owner avoid just this sort of mishap, wasn't hurt? I sense foul play... - Ed.]

Concord: Tuesday October 5, 1999:
At 8:09 a.m., an officer on patrol found a large tree limb had fallen on Seven Star Lane. The tree department was notified. [Yes folks, the police have a tree department. Your tax dollars hard at work. -Ed.]

Wayland: Sunday October 10, 1999:
At 3:40 p.m., a rescue vehicle was sent to Brook Trail Road to assist a person with a serious nosebleed.

Concord: Saturday October 23, 1999:
At 7:38 a.m., police responded to a two-car accident at Main and Thoreau streets. [Okay, this one isn't so remarkable, except that one of the two cars was mine. - Ed.]

Concord: Thursday April 13, 2000:
At 4:08 p.m., a local woman called 911 to report that her dog was missing. She was provided the department's business telephone number to make the report. The woman called back on the business line to report that her dog had been missing for about five minutes. The dog officer was paged.
